Tips for How to Throw a Great Holiday Party
The holidays are near, so there’s no better time to think about planning. The Madden’s staff is getting into the holiday mood with baking cookies and planning the Gingerbread House Luncheon, so we thought it was a good time to share tips on throwing a great holiday party.
#1: Attendance
First, figure out how many people are attending. Attendance numbers will help when planning food and knowing where to hold your holiday gathering. #2: Create a theme
A theme will help outline the overall look and feel of your event. It’s a holiday party, but that doesn’t mean it has to be green, red and filled with reindeer.
Will your party be casual or dressy? Figuring out how formal your party will be helps when planning your food. Dressier attire calls for more formal foods, but if you planned on having sliders you may want to think about more casual attire.
A theme will also help to define entertainment. If you’re doing a Vegas theme, you may want to think of who’s going to be handling your blackjack table.
#3: Entertainment
Besides eating and drinking, your guest will look for additional ways to stay entertained. You may want to consider:

- Band /DJ
- Movies
#4: Drinks
You can have a traditional bartender or do something fun with holiday-themed cocktails where a bartender could teach your guests how to mix tasty cocktails before they consume them
#5 Lighting
Setting the stage for the overall look and feel of the party is important. Are you planning to have dancing and a DJ at your party where you might need someone to run the lights or are you just looking for an overall tone with some colored lighting throughout the space?
