Get Outside with these Family Fun Ideas!
The weather is warm and the days are long. Summer is the perfect time to get outdoors and get moving with the whole family, and the team here at Madden’s wants to help you do that.
Tim Ennis, social activities director at Madden’s, is sharing a few of his favorite outdoor games for you and your group to try. From the creative to the traditional, enjoy the weather and get the fun going here on the lawns of Madden’s.
Pickle Ball: Pickle Ball is a sport growing rapidly in popularity due to its friendliness to all ages and body types. Played on a badminton-sized court, the players use a paddle slightly larger than a ping-pong paddle to smack the wiffle ball back over the net to their opponent. Be the first to score 11 points to win.
Infected: Infected is an elimination-style game to imitate a Zombie Apocalypse! All players but one or two “Zombies” wear flag belts (similar to flag football) and run away from the infected Zombies. Once a Zombie has pulled the flag off of a human, the human must remove their flag belt and become a Zombie, pulling flags from the rest of the group. This tag-like game ends when two humans remain, and they then become the Zombies for the next round.
The Picnic Classics: Sometimes some good old fashion picnic games will do the trick. There is a wide range of games that can be played and altered to offer a wider range of possibilities. Watermelon eating contest, wheelbarrow races, three legged races, water relays, balloon relays, water balloon toss, egg toss, egg races, drawing contests, tug of war, potato races, balloon darts and crab races – to name a few! These are all a great option for any outdoor summer occasion.
Wishing you the best,
