800-642-5363Madden's Pine Beach East
You haven't experienced Brainerd golf until you've played where it began.
Madden's Pine Beach East Course was designed in the late 1920s by James Dalgleish, a Scottish golf course designer. We have lovingly maintained conditions on this historic course which retains much of its 1920s charm. But we've also rebuilt the greens, added bunkers and water hazards. Mature oaks and pines tower over the fairways.
"A course with 6 par 3's always makes way for an opportunity for a shot that gets your heart pumping" says PGA Professional Glenn Hagberg. "Some golfers would look at the scorecard and think that holes 1, 10 and 18 (all par 3's) wouldn't make for very good starting and finishing holes. Once they get out there, they get it. The opportunity to make an eagle during a round of golf is fun. The stretch of holes 14, 15, and 16 is my favorite 3-hole stretch of all Madden's courses, two reachable par 5's followed by a driveable par 4. All require accurate tee shots with an extra pop to avoid trouble, and very small domed greens that are tough to hold. That's what makes you want to play Pine Beach East again and again."
The favorite hole on this course is an unusual par-6 on Number Six, which plays at 618 yards from the back tees and 467 yards from the forward. "It requires a long straightaway tee shot," says Scott Hoffmann, Madden's Director of Golf. "The fairway is long and flat, but there are bunkers from tee to green and there is water danger on the right near the green."
Distances, rating and slope on Pine Beach East: 6,101 yards (69.1/118) and 5,415 (70.9/116).
